Hello! I’m Shane, currently in my early 30s and located in Lancashire, England.
Currently working as a Warehouse Supervisor for one of the top charity retailers in the UK, I’ve been with them since 2010 starting as a Volunteer, before being offered a Sales Assistant position followed by Warehouse Assistant and eventually Warehouse Supervisor in 2016. My time with the company has taken me to several different stores across the North West where I’ve worked with many different people with different levels of experience and knowledge of the business.
I spent a lot of time during the UK Lockdown to work through online courses and expand my knowledge of #SocialMedia and various other topics such as ‘Burnout’ and Mental Health.
In the past I have worked on “Blackburn Ice Hockey” (2016-2019) an independent Social Media project with the aim of promoting Ice Hockey played at Blackburn Ice Arena. It generated a positive response from fans across Facebook and Twitter. Other previous SM experience includes assisting Blackburn Hawks with their SM content and scheduling posts across FB and Twitter during the 2017-18 season.
In 2018/19 I set up and began using the #SPHockey brand on Twitter, which was designed to promote news and score updates of ice hockey across the UK, during Lockdown I used this account to host “Twitter Cups” which generated a lot of positive reactions while the country was shut down earlier in 2020.
I support several teams, mainly the teams based in Nottingham like Panthers and Lions but I also keep up to date with my local teams in Blackburn.
I also like to visit new and different places across the UK as much as possible when I’m not working. One of my favourite places would be Keswick in the Lake District, and more predictably Nottingham – The Greatest City in The World.
In 2022 I was in a position where I couldn’t decide where I wanted to go next, and I came across some other travellers online that were attempting to complete the All The Stations Challenge. After a few months of debating with myself, I made a decision to have a couple of ‘trial’ days where I visited multiple locations in one day and spent time looking around the stations. I really enjoyed my days out and have since decided that I will also attempt to visit every railway station in the UK with the aim of exploring as much of the country as possible. It will take me a few years and alot of planning but I’m looking forward to this adventure and seeing where it takes me.
